By default, Windows Vista and Windows 7 client OS's don't show up in a SpiceWorks scan. This is to do with the Microsoft "Secure by Default" initiative, where they set Windows Firewall to deny ICMP Echo ("Ping") requests by default.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 are based upon the same basic system (NT Kernel Version 6) and as such have very similar networking architecture. The following instructions apply for both operating systems.
1.
Open Windows Firewall Settings
Click the Start button, Control Panel, Windows Firewall
2.
Open up Advanced Settings
Check screenshot for location

3.
Locate the Rule, and Enable
Select the Inbound Rules group, and scroll down to "File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - .....)" within the "Domain" profile. Right click the option, and select "Enable Rule."
